Dr. Sullivan of Bellingham WA, the first veterinarian to offer stem cell transplants to companion animals, performed an allogeneic ( a transplant using a donor match) on my dog, Bailey, April 2006. Unfortunately, her only match, a brother. proved to be too close of a match for her, and we lost her nine months later. We have no regrets--hope is everything! I am happy to see that transplants are being used on those who were used to perfect transplants for people. I have been where you are--I wish you and your Maverick the best,

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the love of these animals, and for the time we have had to share space with our animal loved ones. We know, Father, that it is you who gave us these pets to share in our joys and tears.. and that the bonds we share with them are so eartly and deep. We know that you have a plan for all of us, and that you have reasons for all of the events which unfold in our lives. Please guide all the medical staff who are helping Cody, to make the most wise choices for his well being. Please give Joe and Suzy peace as they travel back to Chicago. Please let the message of Cody's life and journey fall upon the ears of people who need to hear. Please watch over Maverick and his family. In Your name, Jesus, we pray.

Hi Cody! I hope your surgery goes well! I felt really bad when I heard you were sick. I hope you have a safe trip and return home soon.
